Description
The MISSION of Munro Academy’s Early Learning Centre is to facilitate a Christian worldview and community transformation through the provision of a nurturing, developmentally appropriate, learning environment that is Montessori inspired, and welcomes all children.
SUMMARY
Provide nurturing care, and developmentally appropriate supervision, that meets the needs of children from 3 months to 12 yrs at Munro Academy Early Learning Centre in Sydney Mines, NS.
POSITION TYPE
Permanent Part time leading to full time.
KEY OBJECTIVES
- To integrate a Christian WorldView in your daily interactions with the children
- To perform duties in accordance with the mission statement and core values of MAELC
- To provide high quality Christian childcare in a group setting that meets diverse needs and
- promotes optimum physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and intellectual development of the children in our care.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Incorporate a Christian worldview in a learning environment that guides the children through our developmentally appropriate program in accordance with our organizational, and legal guidelines, and meets the needs of each child.
- Provide varied daily activities that support the interests of the children, guide child-directed play and cross cultural, anti-racist non-bias learning.
- Participate in developing individual programs plans to meet the special needs of the children
- Provide supervision and documentation of children in your care
- Prepare appropriate materials and equipment; and setup the environment to meet the needs of the children
- Provide a welcoming and nurturing environment, that is accepting and supportive of each child
- Guide and assist children in activities, routines and transition
- Teach appropriate behaviours and skills through modelling, guiding, observing, demonstrating and reinforcing positive behavior.
- Evaluate program and development of individual children
- Attend to physical needs of children
- Assist in developing self-help skills such as washing, dressing, toileting, and eating as necessary
- Attend to diapering needs
- Assist with feeding children and ensure special dietary requirements are met
- Ensure children are clean, dry and dressed appropriately
- Maintain a healthy and safe environment
- Administer and maintain records of medication and first aid
- Record and report accidents and serious occurrences
- Ensure positive communication with families through regular verbal and written contact regarding program, children's progress, opportunities for involvement, special concerns and family needs
- Conduct parent/teacher interviews, case conferences as required.
- Participate within a team to ensure the ongoing administration and coordination of the program’s activities, record attendance, adjust schedule to ensure staff ratios are maintained, arranges replacement as required, participates in agency activities and committee meetings and consult with community professionals, monitor and report on needed supplies, keeps Director advised of pertinent information.
- Participate in professional development through education and training, both in-house and external and keeps up to date with developments in the field and required PD hours
- Respect confidentiality that relates to parents, children and other staff members in a professional and ethical manner.
- Maintain current First aid, CPR, Criminal record check/vulnerable sector check, and Child Abuse registry check.
- Other related duties as may be assigned by the Director.
